• The procedure codes differ for inpatient and outpatient claims, with ICD-10-PCS used for inpatient surgical procedures, and CPT® and HCPCS Level II codes used for professional services.
• ICD-10-CM Diagnosis codes are generally the same for inpatient and outpatient claims, with the exception of coding guidelines.
